Press Release Summary: Team vying for playoff spot, fans securing seats for playoffs and next season
Press Release Body: GLENDALE, ARIZ. (March 4, 2008) -- With the playoffs on the horizon for the Phoenix Coyotes, team President and Chief Operating Officer Douglas Moss recently announced a special incentive program for fans looking to secure their seat at the 2008 Coyotes playoffs.
The "Working for a Whiteout" campaign provides all fans who make a $99 deposit on 2008-2009 season tickets guaranteed seat rights at the 2008 Coyote playoffs.
"The Whiteout has been a longtime symbol of success for the Coyotes organization," said Moss. "Our goal has been to bring the Whiteout to Coyote fans in the Jobing.com Arena, and with the success of the team this season, that goal is within reach. It's a very exciting time to be a Coyotes fan."
First coined in Canada as the "Winnipeg Whiteout" in 1985, Winnipeg Jets hockey fans wore white clothing to home playoff games in response to the "C of Red" established by fans of the Calgary Flames. The Jets went on to eliminate the Flames from the playoffs and the "Whiteout" became a hockey tradition that carried with the team when the Jets moved to Phoenix as the Coyotes in 1996.
Coyotes fans can select their playoff seats and pick out seats for the 2008-2009 season by calling 480-563-PUCK. Season tickets for next season start at only $9 a game.
With just 16 games remaining in the regular season, the Coyotes (33-28-5, 71 points) currently sit in 10th place in the Western Conference. They trail the Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators by a mere three points for the eighth and final playoff spot.
Nine of the Coyotes final 16 contests will be played on home ice, including Thursday\'s game when the Coyotes take on the Montreal Canadiens at Jobing.com Arena.
